Two Still Lifes Acquired by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fano

By Cortona Fine Art

Our gallery has completed the sale of a significant pair of paintings by the eighteenth-century master Carlo Magini, further enriching the Foundation’s collection dedicated to the artist.

Our gallery is pleased to announce the sale of a pair of still-life paintings by Carlo Magini (Fano, 1720–1806) to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fano.

This acquisition further strengthens an already important collection devoted to one of the most distinctive and original painters of eighteenth-century Italy, reaffirming the Foundation’s longstanding commitment to preserving and promoting the artistic heritage of its territory.

The two canvases are exemplary of Magini’s unique artistic vision. Through carefully balanced compositions, the artist elevates everyday objects, kitchen utensils and natural produce into subjects of remarkable presence and dignity. His extraordinary ability to render materials – copper, glazed earthenware, glass, fruit and vegetables – gives the paintings an almost tangible quality, enhanced by subtle lighting and masterful chiaroscuro.

The newly acquired works display many of the hallmarks of Magini’s art: the rhythmic arrangement of forms, the architectural construction of space and the refined balance between observation and abstraction. Beneath their apparent simplicity lies a sophisticated and surprisingly modern vision, capable of transforming ordinary domestic objects into timeless meditations on form, light and matter.

We are especially pleased that these paintings have found their place within a public collection so closely connected to the city of Fano and to the legacy of Carlo Magini himself. Acquisitions of this kind represent an important aspect of our gallery’s mission: helping significant works of art enter institutions where they can be preserved, studied and enjoyed by the wider public.
