On the top verso, written in pen and brown ink, in which the name of "Ratti Giuseppe...Campidoglio...June 1759...Director Nicolò Ricciolini" appears

Ratti, sent by his father to Rome, spent a period of apprenticeship between 1756 and 1759 under the tutelage of Placido Costanzi. The date that appears on the back suggests an academic exercise perhaps inspired by a sculpture executed in the last year of his stay in Rome.
