Susanna and the Elders
Michele Sangiorgi
(Faenza 1785 - Rome 1822)
- Black chalk and white lead on beige paper
- 230 x 303 mm
The drawing shows clear affinities with the Holy Family created by Sangiorgi around 1810 (1). This closeness is particularly noticeable in the head of Saint Joseph, which closely recalls the physiognomy of one of the 'elders'. The work is clearly influenced by Minardi and Camuccini, reflecting the academic and neoclassical climate of the period.
